Cichetti in Venice

Osteria da Carla

Osteria Enoteca Ai Artisti

Southern Europeans live a sweet tradition of enjoying small plates of snacks between meals. Spaniards call it tapas; for Venetians, it's cichetti.

In Venice, osterie serve creative small servings of fresh Mediterranean plates such as sandwiches, anchovies, olives, and cheeses along with a glass of prosecco or crisp vino blanco. Gourmands stop by an osterie in the afternoon to escape from the summer heat, or pop in at sunset for aperitivo before heading out to dinner.

During our last visit in Venice, we stopped by Osteria da Carla in the San Marco district for a couple of cichetti before our dinner reservation. The osteria is hidden in a small alley, but was full of dining guests. We grabbed bar seats in a quiet corner right by the entrance as we were planning to hop out quickly. The bar is compact, making it perfect for those who are on the go. Our selection of daily creations were delightful, and the atmosphere was so cozy that you want to make this osteria a daily stop.

What to expect after cichetti? An authentic Italian pasta. Osteria Enoteca Ai Artisti serves memorable dishes that are pleasing to your eyes and your palate. Couples should go for bar seating by the window to enjoy artistic dishes and canal view; you are guaranteed for a memorable Venetian experience.
